Mission
What you will drive
As a Community Organizer at Rhizome, you will:
- Recruit, onboard, and support teams of high-school aged Civic Service Fellows to lead civic actions in their communities.
- Work both virtually and in-person to build community, provide regular training, and guide Fellows in organizing and increasing civic engagement.
- Support 5-7 teams of Fellows across local high schools in a particular urban, suburban, or rural community.

Profile
What makes you a great fit
Ideal candidates bring:
- Community organizing experience: demonstrable track record of organizing a group around a goal, campaign development, or volunteer mobilization.
- Experience in youth engagement: working directly with and engaging young people (high school aged and up) in meaningful ways.
- Strong communications skills: excellent written and verbal communication, ability to speak with adult and youth audiences effectively.
- Understanding of social justice issues: can clearly articulate why community engagement and civic responsibility is important.
Benefits
What's in it for you
Compensation: $18/hour, working an average of 6 hours/week (6.5 hours/week July-November and January-March, 4 hours/week in November and April). Includes 2 unpaid mental health breaks (office closures) in December/January and May/June. All travel costs covered for the in-person gathering August 6-10.
