Community Organizer

• Execute PBB's grassroots organizing strategy, including canvassing, one-on-one conversations, workshops, and community assemblies to engage residents in participatory budgeting.
• Design, implement, and manage PBB's volunteer program, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and leadership development.
• Mobilize residents for budget hearings, civic engagement opportunities, and advocacy campaigns, and facilitate educational programming on participatory budgeting and municipal budgets.

This role empowers Birmingham residents to directly influence how public funds are spent, building grassroots power and making governance more accountable, transparent, and equitable.

• At least 2-3 years of experience in community organizing, public service, or social justice.
• Proven ability to build authentic relationships with diverse community members through one-on-one conversations and community engagement.
• Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers for advocacy or organizing programs.
• Strong project management, communication, and facilitation skills; familiarity with Birmingham's neighborhoods and civic landscape.
