Community Organizer (candidates can be based anywhere in Connecticut)

• Craft and facilitate group workshops on core organizing skills like campaign planning, messaging, and fundraising.
• Build relationships with leaders in most impacted communities, identifying local environmental threats and working together to find solutions.
• Increase Slingshot’s media presence through local events, press releases, campaign materials, and online organizing.
• Cultivate relationships with local foundations, write grant applications, and identify grassroots donors.

This role works side-by-side with communities on the frontlines of climate and environmental injustice, building community power to take on polluters and create lasting change for environmental health and justice in Connecticut.

• At least three years of related work experience, such as community organizing or grassroots campaign coordination.
• Experience living in or working with people in frontline communities, especially people of color, Indigenous communities, immigrants, and low-income people.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; strategic thinking and effective facilitation skills.
• Experience with leadership development, campaign planning, and a passion for racial, economic, and environmental justice.

Salary: $60,000-68,000 depending on experience. Benefits include medical and dental coverage, retirement savings plan, vacation, sick time, holidays, and Fridays off during the summer. Professional development opportunities and a supportive, non-hierarchical work environment.
