Job description

POSITION: Community Fundraising & Campaigns Coordinator REPORTS TO: Director of Community Fundraising & Revenue Strategy ABOUT KESEM: We are a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer with innovative, fun-filled programs that foster a lasting community. ABOUT THE POSITION: The Community Fundraising & Campaigns Coordinator leads the day-to-day execution of Kesem’s organization-wide community, peer-to-peer, annual, and alumni fundraising efforts. The Coordinator is accountable for excellent execution of Giving Tuesday, Year-End, Chapter-connected and supporter-led fundraising campaigns, alumni fundraising, and other community fundraising opportunities. The role works closely with the Donor Marketing & Stewardship Coordinator on fundraising copy and donor journeys, the Director, Team Kesem & Revenue Intelligence on data, lists, reporting, and campaign measurement, Marketing on design and social media, and Operations on Chapter implementation. The Kesem Development Team shares collective accountability for achieving Kesem’s overall fundraising goals. Every team member is expected to contribute to that success by working across revenue streams, identifying opportunities, and prioritizing the strongest outcomes for the organization as a whole. KESEM'S VALUES The Community Fundraising & Campaigns Coordinator must uphold and build a culture that continues to support and strengthen the following behaviors to help us realize our vision: Continuous learning - We operate with curiosity and a willingness to try new things, and we see our successes and setbacks as opportunities for growth. Accountability - We are individually and collectively responsible for advancing our mission. Resilience - We empower and support each other through challenges while fostering a spirit of joy and hopefulness. Empathy - We seek to understand and appreciate other perspectives and experiences. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES Community & Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Project manage scalable community and peer-to-peer fundraising programs, including Chapter-connected campaigns, birthdays and milestones, tribute and memorial fundraising, family- and volunteer-led fundraising, DIY fundraising, legacy campaigns, and other supporter-led initiatives approved by Kesem. Build campaign timelines, fundraising pages, toolkits, volunteer resources, implementation guides, and repeatable models that can be used consistently across Chapters and National. Create or support innovative, targeted campaigns around defined Chapter and organizational needs such as program support, transportation assistance, waitlist growth, or other fundable priorities, ensuring campaigns are structured and tracked consistently across Kesem. Provide hands-on support to volunteer fundraisers, families, alumni, student leaders, Board members, and other community members so fundraising is accessible, well-supported, and aligned with Kesem’s standards. Gather and coordinate current stories, testimonials, cases for support, financial information, and other campaign inputs from the appropriate teams so campaign resources are timely and accurate. Develop and distribute turnkey fundraising tools such as email templates, talking points, donor follow-up guides, peer-to-peer page guidance, and Board or volunteer outreach materials in partnership with Donor Marketing and Marketing. Giving Tuesday Lead project management and execution of Kesem’s organization-wide Giving Tuesday campaign, translating the strategy set by Development leadership into a coordinated implementation plan across National and Chapters. Convene and coordinate the Marketing, Chapter Implementation, and National Implementation subcommittees, ensuring each has clear ownership, timelines, deliverables, dependencies, decision points, and accountability throughout the campaign. Partner closely with the Operations team to ensure Chapters have the tools, resources, fundraising pages, goals, communications, training, and implementation plans needed to execute successfully, and escalate barriers that could affect Chapter performance. Coordinate National implementation, including staff and volunteer participation, fundraising pages, campaign logistics, internal deadlines, and cross-functional execution. Support Leadership Team and Board fundraising commitments, goals, peer-to-peer pages, outreach planning, and execution so organizational leaders can participate effectively in the campaign. Partner with the Donor Marketing & Stewardship Coordinator on fundraising copy, donor communications, stewardship, post-campaign donor journeys, and conversion strategies; with Marketing on design, social media, and creative execution; and with the Director, Team Kesem & Revenue Intelligence on lists, segmentation, dashboards, reporting, and campaign analysis. Ensure campaign stewardship and follow-up are planned and executed in coordination with the Donor Marketing & Stewardship Coordinator so donors, fundraisers, and key constituents receive appropriate recognition and next-step engagement. Maintain campaign documentation, lead post-campaign debriefs, track lessons learned, and recommend execution improvements for future years. Year-End & Annual Campaign Execution Lead project management and execution of Kesem’s Year-End fundraising effort across Chapter and National audiences, translating the strategy set by the Director of Community Fundraising & Revenue Strategy into a coordinated implementation plan. Build and manage project plans, deadlines, fundraising pages, Chapter tools, production schedules, vendor coordination, and cross-functional workstreams required for successful execution. Coordinate the logistics of mailed appeals, including timelines, vendor management, print and production needs, mailing files, proofs, postage coordination, and delivery schedules in partnership with the appropriate internal teams. Proactively identify opportunities for new fundraising campaigns based on organizational priorities, donor and audience insights, fundraising performance, and emerging opportunities, and recommend campaign concepts, target audiences, objectives, and approaches to Development leadership. Develop and lead execution of approved campaigns, including goals, timelines, resources, fundraising tools, cross-functional coordination, tracking, reporting, and post-campaign evaluation. Coordinate Chapter and National implementation for approved campaigns, ensuring appropriate tools, resources, timelines, ownership, and execution support are in place. Partner with the Donor Marketing & Stewardship Coordinator on fundraising copy, messaging, donor journeys, recurring-giving promotion, matching-gift messaging, and post-campaign stewardship; with the Director, Team Kesem & Revenue Intelligence on list methodology, segmentation, dashboards, reporting, and performance analysis; and with Marketing on design, social media, and creative production. Coordinate post-campaign reporting and handoff into renewal, stewardship, second-gift, recurring-giving, and other appropriate donor-development strategies. Maintain campaign documentation, lead post-campaign debriefs, and recommend execution improvements for future campaigns. Alumni Fundraising Execute Chapter and National alumni fundraising strategies, campaigns, and appeals in partnership with the Director of Community Fundraising & Revenue Strategy and the Manager of Alumni Relations. Create scalable alumni fundraising tools and participation pathways that reconnect former student leaders with Kesem through philanthropy. Equip alumni volunteers with fundraising pages, messages, toolkits, and coaching when they are supporting Kesem campaigns. Track alumni fundraising participation, donor acquisition, retention, revenue, and movement into other donor pathways in partnership with Revenue Intelligence. The duties and responsibilities described above are not intended to be an exhaustive list and may change based on organizational needs. REQUIREMENTS Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience in peer-to-peer fundraising, annual giving, community fundraising, campaigns, volunteer engagement, or a related field. Demonstrated ability to manage multi-step campaigns or programs with firm deadlines and many participants or stakeholders. Strong relationship-building and coaching skills with volunteers, fundraisers, alumni, students, Board members, or community members. Excellent written communication and customer-service skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive donor information accurately and confidentially. Comfort using Salesforce or another CRM, fundraising platforms, email tools, spreadsheets, and project-management tools. Ability to track revenue and participation goals and use performance data to improve execution. Excellent organization, initiative, and follow-through. Commitment to and passion for Kesem’s mission and values. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Giving Tuesday, Year-End fundraising, direct mail, alumni fundraising, tribute/memorial fundraising, or Chapter-based peer-to-peer campaigns. Experience with Classy/GoFundMe Pro, Salesforce, HubSpot, or comparable fundraising systems. Experience supporting volunteer leaders or Chapter-based fundraising. WORK EXPECTATIONS The Community Fundraising & Campaigns Coordinator role is a full-time position, with responsibilities that require approximately 40 hours of work per week, with some weeks requiring additional hours around major campaigns and fundraising periods. This is a fully remote position with no geographic preference, provided the employee is able to meet Kesem’s travel and work-hour expectations. It is expected that the Community Fundraising & Campaigns Coordinator will maintain a reliable internet connection and professional remote work environment and will be available and actively working from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. in their local time zone, unless otherwise approved by their supervisor. This role requires flexibility during Giving Tuesday, Year-End, and other major community-fundraising moments. It is expected that the Coordinator will be available for occasional evening or weekend fundraiser, volunteer, Board, or campaign meetings and event support. As a collaborative organization, employees are expected to demonstrate flexibility in supporting organizational priorities, including providing temporary coverage for colleagues during leaves of absence or other staffing needs, as assigned. Travel may include National Leadership Summit, staff meetings, camps or Visitors Days, and selected fundraising events, approximately 5–7 times per year. DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION STATEMENT Kesem’s mission of supporting children through and beyond a parent’s cancer, and our vision of ensuring that every child impacted by a parent’s cancer is never alone, can only be realized through an ongoing, steadfast commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in every part of our organization. To that end, Kesem makes the following commitments: To continually expand the communities we support and work with - our camper families, volunteers, staff, alumni, partners, donors, and boards - with attention to engaging communities we are not currently reaching. To strive for equity in delivering a transformative, fun, and empowering community that recognizes and embraces our differences. To aspire to create shared spaces that are safe for every member of the Kesem community to feel valued and respected. Kesem will engage in continued meaningful learning in order to better support our mission and our growing Kesem community. Kesem is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
