How to Apply for Building Tomorrow Uganda Fellow

at Building Tomorrow

🏢 About Building Tomorrow

Building Tomorrow is a US nonprofit that partners with communities in East Africa to improve foundational literacy and numeracy through community-powered programs. They focus on sustainable, community-driven solutions rather than top-down aid, making them a unique and impactful organization to work for. Fellows are empowered to make a real difference in rural education.

About This Role

As a Building Tomorrow Uganda Fellow, you will lead primary education initiatives in rural districts, recruiting and training Community Education Volunteers, preparing teachers for literacy and numeracy camps, and supporting four schools across 16 villages. This two-year fellowship includes intensive training and deployment in clusters, offering a unique opportunity to drive systemic change and build community trust.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might start with a morning ride on your motorcycle to one of your four schools, where you'll observe a literacy camp led by a Community Education Volunteer. You'll then meet with the head teacher to discuss progress and challenges, and later visit a village to engage parents and local leaders in supporting education. Evenings might be spent planning the next day's activities or documenting your work for your Regional Coordinator.
