How to Apply for AI Systems & Data Security Manager

at Concrete Transition Capital

๐Ÿข About Concrete Transition Capital

Concrete Transition Capital is a mission-driven firm using AI-driven market intelligence to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon concrete and decarbonize the cement and concrete industry. As a remote-first company, they offer the chance to work at the intersection of AI, climate tech, and finance, making a tangible impact on global carbon emissions. Employees join a passionate team dedicated to solving one of the hardest decarbonization challenges in heavy industry.

About This Role

As the AI Systems & Data Security Manager, you will own the security and integrity of the AI platforms and data pipelines that power Concrete Transition Capital's market intelligence products. You'll design and implement security frameworks for AI models, manage data privacy and compliance, and ensure that sensitive industry data is protected end-to-end. This role is critical to maintaining trust with clients and partners while enabling rapid innovation in a regulated space.

๐Ÿ’ก A Day in the Life

Your day might start with a security review of a new data ingestion pipeline, followed by a meeting with data scientists to discuss privacy-preserving techniques for a model update. In the afternoon, you could be drafting a compliance report for a client or evaluating a new security tool for the AI stack. You'll regularly collaborate with engineers and leadership to ensure security is baked into every stage of product development.

๐ŸŽฏ Who Concrete Transition Capital Is Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in data security, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML systems and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Deep understanding of security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) as they apply to AI and machine learning.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML pipelines, model security (e.g., adversarial attacks, model inversion), and data anonymization techniques.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, and a passion for climate tech and sustainability.

๐Ÿ“ Tips for Applying to Concrete Transition Capital

1

Highlight any experience securing AI/ML systems in your resumeโ€”be specific about the tools and frameworks you've used (e.g., TensorFlow Privacy, IBM AI Fairness 360, AWS SageMaker security).

2

Emphasize your ability to balance security with innovation: Concrete Transition Capital values speed and agility, so show how you've enabled secure rapid prototyping.

3

Demonstrate familiarity with the cement/concrete industry or other heavy industry decarbonization challengesโ€”even if it's through personal projects or coursework.

4

Include metrics: quantify how your security initiatives reduced risk, improved compliance, or enabled faster deployment.

5

Tailor your cover letter to mention Concrete Transition Capital's mission and how your security expertise can directly support their goal of decarbonizing concrete.

โœ‰๏ธ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

Your cover letter should emphasize: (1) your specific experience securing AI/ML systems and data pipelines, with concrete examples; (2) your understanding of data privacy regulations in the context of AI; (3) your passion for climate tech and how you align with Concrete Transition Capital's mission; and (4) your ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively across time zones.

๐Ÿ” Research Before Applying

To stand out, make sure you've researched:

  • โ†’ Learn about the cement and concrete industry's carbon footprint and the role of low-carbon alternativesโ€”resources like the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) and the Mission Possible Partnership are good starts.
  • โ†’ Explore Concrete Transition Capital's website, blog, and any press releases to understand their AI products and recent milestones.
  • โ†’ Research common security challenges in AI/ML, such as data poisoning, model theft, and adversarial examples, and how they might apply to market intelligence platforms.
  • โ†’ Check the LinkedIn profiles of current employees to understand the team's background and culture.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Prepare for These Interview Topics

Based on this role, you may be asked about:

1 How would you approach securing an AI model that predicts concrete carbon footprints from sensitive industry data?
2 Describe a time you identified and mitigated a security vulnerability in a machine learning pipeline.
3 What are the key differences between traditional data security and AI system security, and how would you adapt your approach?
4 How would you ensure compliance with GDPR and CCPA when handling data from multiple countries?
5 Given Concrete Transition Capital's focus on low-carbon concrete, how would you prioritize security investments to support both innovation and risk management?

โš ๏ธ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Focusing only on traditional IT security without addressing AI-specific risksโ€”this role requires a deep understanding of ML security.
  • Ignoring the climate mission: Concrete Transition Capital is mission-driven, so candidates who don't show genuine interest in sustainability may be overlooked.
  • Being too generic about remote work: highlight your ability to proactively communicate and manage projects asynchronously, as the team is fully remote.
