How to Apply for U.S Operations Intern

at Kiva

🏢 About Kiva

Kiva is a unique nonprofit that enables individuals to lend as little as $25 to entrepreneurs in developing countries, creating a direct impact on poverty alleviation. Working here means contributing to a mission-driven organization that has facilitated over $2 billion in loans, fostering sustainable livelihoods globally.

About This Role

As a U.S Operations Intern, you'll be at the heart of Kiva's lending process, screening loan applications and supporting borrowers on their fundraising journey. Your work directly helps entrepreneurs access capital, and you'll have the chance to improve operational efficiency through process improvements.

💡 A Day in the Life

Your day might start by reviewing a queue of loan applications, verifying borrower details, and approving those that meet criteria. Later, you'll make follow-up calls to borrowers whose campaigns are stalling, and spend time analyzing delinquency data to create action plans. You'll also collaborate with the review team via video call to discuss process improvements.

🎯 Who Kiva Is Looking For

  • A proactive problem-solver who can independently manage a portfolio of borrower accounts and develop action plans for delinquency.
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking skills to accurately screen loan applications and identify potential risks.
  • Comfortable with phone and text communication to support borrowers empathetically and professionally.
  • Tech-savvy with intermediate skills in Google Docs, Excel, and PowerPoint to analyze data and present improvements.
