U.S. Litigation Staff Attorney/ Senior Staff Attorney

• Manage, supervise, lead, and engage in all aspects of litigation and litigation-related advocacy, including case development, legal research, client counseling, motions practice, discovery, and policy advocacy.
• Collaborate with IRAP staff across departments to ensure litigation supports policy, legal services, and communications work.
• Represent IRAP in external relationships with advocates, pro bono firms, media, and donors.
• Participate in organizational tasks such as hiring committees and cross-departmental task forces.

This role directly advances the rights and dignity of refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced people through strategic litigation, challenging unjust policies and securing protections for vulnerable populations.

• Law degree and license to practice law in the U.S. state from which the candidate will work; willingness to apply for New York bar if moving to NY.
• Three or more years of relevant legal experience after law school, including substantial federal court litigation experience.
• Prior experience working with marginalized and/or displaced communities preferred; experience using interpreters for client communications preferred.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills; additional languages (Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Haitian Creole, Pashto, Somali, Spanish) a plus.
