How to Apply for Sustainability Data Analyst
at Worldly
🏢 About Worldly
Worldly is the world’s most comprehensive impact intelligence platform, delivering real supply chain data to businesses so they can measure and improve their sustainability performance. Working here means joining a mission-driven team that sits at the intersection of data, technology, and global impact — helping brands and manufacturers make credible environmental and social claims.
About This Role
As a Sustainability Data Analyst, you’ll be the guardian of data accuracy and integrity across Worldly’s platform. You’ll dive deep into complex sustainability datasets, run QA and UAT on calculations and metrics, maintain assessment-defining files, and manage analytical content that powers customer data exports. Your work ensures that the impact intelligence customers rely on is reliable, consistent, and defensible.
💡 A Day in the Life
You might start your day reviewing a new assessment specification from a product manager, then spend a few hours updating complex Excel or database files that define how sustainability metrics are calculated. Later, you’d run UAT on a new calculation, document your findings, and collaborate with engineering or content teams to resolve discrepancies. You’ll also spend time investigating a customer-reported data inconsistency, tracing it back to a source file and implementing a fix to prevent recurrence.
🚀 Application Tools
🎯 Who Worldly Is Looking For
- You have 2+ years of experience working with large, complex datasets, ideally in sustainability, ESG, or a related analytical field.
- You’re extremely detail-oriented and curious — you enjoy reverse-engineering calculations, validating assumptions, and tracing data anomalies to their root cause.
- You’re comfortable with data QA/UAT processes and have experience maintaining data files or content that govern downstream outputs (e.g., exports, reports).
- You’re a self-starter who can balance deep independent work with cross-functional collaboration, and you communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
📝 Tips for Applying to Worldly
Highlight any experience you have with sustainability metrics, ESG frameworks (e.g., Higg Index, GRI, SASB, CDP), or supply chain data — even if it was part of a broader role.
Emphasize your QA/UAT skills: describe specific instances where you caught data errors, improved validation processes, or ensured calculation accuracy.
Show familiarity with data tools (SQL, Excel, Python, etc.) and mention how you’ve used them to manipulate, validate, or audit large datasets.
Demonstrate your ability to work remotely and independently: give examples of self-managed projects where you proactively identified and solved data issues.
Tailor your resume to include keywords from the job description like “content quality assurance,” “user acceptance testing,” “assessment-defining files,” and “data exports” to pass ATS and show alignment.
✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter
['Your passion for data integrity and how it directly supports credible sustainability claims — connect this to Worldly’s mission.', 'A specific example of a time you improved data accuracy or consistency through QA/UAT or root-cause analysis.', 'Your experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into reliable data outputs.', 'Why you’re excited about Worldly specifically: mention their impact intelligence platform and how your skills can help scale their data quality.']

To stand out, make sure you've researched:
- → Explore Worldly’s platform and understand the types of sustainability data they provide (e.g., Higg FEM, Higg FSLM, etc.) and who their customers are.
- → Read about the Higg Index and other sustainability frameworks Worldly supports, as well as common data challenges in supply chain sustainability.

💬 Prepare for These Interview Topics
Based on this role, you may be asked about:
⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Being vague about your data experience — avoid saying you “worked with data” without specifying the size, complexity, and tools used.
- Ignoring the sustainability context: applying as a general data analyst without showing interest or experience in ESG/sustainability will make you a weaker fit.
- Failing to demonstrate attention to detail in your application — typos, inconsistent formatting, or generic cover letters will quickly disqualify you for a role that demands precision.
