How to Apply for Senior Software Engineer, Computation
at Aurora Solar
🏢 About Aurora Solar
Aurora Solar is a mission-driven company creating a future of solar for all by providing AI-driven software that has designed millions of solar projects. As a remote-first company recognized as one of the Best Remote Companies and a Certified Green Business, it offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of climate tech and cutting-edge software engineering. Employees are empowered to make a tangible impact on the world's transition to solar energy.
About This Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the System Design Pod, you will build and own the computation engines that power accurate solar design, including load and utility bill modeling, whole-home electrification, PV and battery electrical design, and system performance simulation. This deeply technical role combines software engineering with applied math, directly influencing the quality of every solar project designed in Aurora. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, research engineers, and QA to turn complex requirements into scalable solutions.
💡 A Day in the Life
A typical day might involve collaborating with research engineers to refine a load modeling algorithm, writing and optimizing code for a new battery simulation feature, and participating in cross-functional stand-ups to align with product and design teams. You'll also spend time debugging performance issues in existing computation engines and reviewing code to ensure accuracy and scalability. Expect a mix of deep technical work and collaborative problem-solving, all within a remote-first environment.
