How to Apply for Senior Organizer
at Popular Democracy
๐ข About Popular Democracy
Popular Democracy is a national network that partners with nearly 50 base-building organizations across 30+ states, Puerto Rico, and DC to advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. Unlike many progressive organizations, it focuses on building the long-term capacity of local affiliates, making it a unique place for organizers who want to strengthen the broader movement ecosystem. Working here means directly contributing to a dynamic, rapidly expanding organization that wins tangible victories for low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.
About This Role
As a Senior Organizer, you will be the primary point person for assigned affiliate organizations, leading the implementation of strong organizing programs that drive member recruitment and capacity building. You will provide direct support, coaching, and strategic guidance to affiliates, helping them build power and win campaigns. This role is impactful because you will be a catalyst for change across multiple states, ensuring that local organizations have the skills and strategies needed to create lasting progressive change.
๐ก A Day in the Life
A typical day might involve a check-in call with an affiliate organizer to troubleshoot a member recruitment challenge, followed by a strategy session with another affiliate's leadership team to plan a campaign. You might also spend time researching best practices, preparing training materials, or coordinating with other departments at Popular Democracy to align support. Occasionally, you'll travel to an affiliate site for an in-person training or meeting, but most work is done remotely via video calls and emails.
