Senior or Staff Attorney, Students' Civil Rights Project

• Serve as lead or co-counsel in impact litigation, amicus briefs, and special legal projects advancing the Students' Civil Rights Project's strategic goals.
• Handle the full range of litigation responsibilities including legal research, briefing, oral arguments, client communications, and settlement negotiations.
• Supervise junior attorneys and legal fellows on SCRP matters.
• Engage in broader legal advocacy, including policy work, media campaigns, and collaboration with allies to combat discrimination in schools.

This role directly combats discrimination in schools, ensuring safe and equitable learning environments for all students, particularly those facing racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia, through high-impact litigation and advocacy.

• J.D. degree with at least eight years of relevant litigation and advocacy experience for Senior Attorney; at least five years for Staff Attorney (including clerkships/fellowships).
• Excellent analytical, legal research, writing, and public speaking skills.
• Experience as lead drafter of briefs in trial and appellate courts; litigation experience with increasing case management responsibilities.
• For Senior Attorney: experience supervising attorneys or fellows. Admission to a state bar and willingness to gain DC bar admission if not based in DC.
