Senior Litigation Counsel or Litigation Counsel

• Serve as lead counsel in church-state cases throughout the country, including trial and appellate litigation.
• Draft and edit pleadings, briefs, take depositions, deliver oral arguments, and prosecute appeals.
• Develop new cases by investigating facts and law, formulating strategies, and identifying plaintiffs.
• Guide, mentor, and train junior lawyers and legal interns; collaborate across departments on advocacy campaigns.

This role defends the rights of women, LGBTQ+ people, and racial and religious minorities against religion-based discrimination, and fights to keep religion out of government, ensuring freedom of belief for all.

• At least three years of litigation experience (judicial clerkship counts); ten years for Senior Litigation Counsel.
• Substantial experience as lead counsel (Senior) or demonstrated ability to assume that role (Litigation Counsel).
• Exceptional analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills; self-starter with ability to travel.
• Commitment to public interest, separation of religion and government, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Salary range: $91,480–$175,644 annually depending on experience and location. Comprehensive benefits include employer-paid health care, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k) with match, and commuter subsidy. Remote or hybrid work environment.
