Senior Litigation Counsel - Federal Response

• Direct and coordinate the federal response litigation portfolio, including case selection, staffing, budget management, and supervision of pro bono counsel and partners.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies to defend the rights of unhoused persons against federal policies, including affirmative litigation and amicus filings.
• Build and maintain relationships with grassroots organizations, national legal groups, and state attorneys general offices to inform movement lawyering and coalition work.
• Translate federal policy changes and judicial orders for non-legal stakeholders and contribute to cross-movement advocacy.

This role directly defends the civil and human rights of unhoused persons by challenging harmful federal policies and advancing litigation that protects access to housing and services, contributing to the national movement to end homelessness.

• J.D. and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• At least 10 years of attorney experience with 7+ years of civil litigation experience, including managing a litigation program or substantial portfolio.
• Experience working with directly impacted individuals and grassroots organizations on litigation or policy advocacy.
• Strong relationship-based competencies, budget management experience, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary range: $92,500 - $140,000 per year (based on years since law school graduation). Benefits include fully employer-paid health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 403(b)-retirement plan with supplemental contribution; 20 days vacation, 10 days sick leave, 5 days personal leave, federal holidays, 12 weeks paid parental leave; two weeks office closure; flexible work schedule; work laptop provided.
