Mission

What you will drive

Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Geochemist to join our team for a new position. We are looking for candidates that are enthusiastic and team-oriented with strong technical capabilities in ML/ARD and aqueous geochemistry. In this role, you will work with our experienced team of geologists, hydrogeologists and geochemists on projects in the mining, remediation, civil infrastructure, waste management, and water supply sectors across Canada and internationally. While our preference is for the successful candidate to be based out of our Burnaby, Victoria or Calgary offices, alternative locations including the flexibility of remote work will also be considered for the right candidate. This is a Full-time role.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within a team of geochemists, hydrogeologists, geologists and on a wide variety of mining, major infrastructure, remediation and oil and gas opportunities.

  • Design and oversee implementation of geochemical investigations including drilling sampling of soil, rock, groundwater, surface water and soil gas.

  • Design and oversee laboratory and filed testing programs to evaluate behavior and transport of mine wastes and anthropogenic materials.

  • Evaluate geochemistry of solid phase (soil/waste rock/tailings), aqueous phase (inorganic/organic compounds), and stable/radioactive isotopes. Interpret and report solid and aqueous geochemistry data.

  • Develop conceptual geochemical models to resolve complex environmental problems.

  • Lead and support development of contaminant transport models to support environmental impact assessments, remedial evaluations and risk assessments using software packages such as Geochemist's Workbench, PHREEQC, GoldSim and other modelling packages.

  • Lead and work closely with hydrogeologists and hydrologists to develop predictive water quality models.

  • Development of junior and intermediate staff through ongoing mentoring.

  • Project Management duties including preparing proposals/workplans and managing project budgets, schedules, health + safety and project staffing.

  • Support offices in across Canada, and internationally.
