Senior Development Officer

• Develop and write compelling grant proposals and reports, collaborating across programs to align with CIEL's mission and strategic priorities.
• Manage a portfolio of institutional donors, cultivating new foundation prospects and stewarding current funders to maximize funding potential.
• Coordinate with finance and program staff to meet grant budgeting, reporting, and compliance deadlines.

This role directly supports CIEL's mission to use the power of law to protect the environment and promote human rights by securing critical funding for programs that defend the right to a healthy planet.

• At least 5 years of professional experience in institutional development/fundraising.
• Proven experience securing grants in the mid to upper six-figure range and managing a portfolio of grants with competing deadlines.
• Strong grant writing skills and ability to interpret grant budgets.
• Exceptional communication, attention to detail, and ability to work on multiple priorities concurrently.

Salary range: $75,000-$90,000 (12.5% increase applies in Switzerland). Remote work within specific US states, Washington DC, or Geneva, Switzerland. Position is included in the CIEL staff unit of the Washington Baltimore News Guild union.
