How to Apply for Senior Associate (Climate Solutions)

at CEA Consulting

🏢 About CEA Consulting

CEA Consulting is a 30-person environmental consultancy that has spent over four decades helping philanthropies, nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies tackle urgent challenges like climate change, ocean conservation, and sustainable food systems. What sets CEA apart is its boutique size and collaborative, inclusive culture—consultants are encouraged to pursue their passions, develop their skills, and bring their whole selves to work. If you want to make a direct impact on environmental strategy while working alongside mission-driven clients, this is a rare opportunity.

About This Role

As a Senior Associate (Climate Solutions), you will be a key contributor to client engagements focused on climate change mitigation and adaptation. You'll conduct rigorous analysis, develop focused strategies, and help build and execute effective programs for a range of clients—from foundations to businesses. This role is impactful because your work directly informs how millions of dollars and critical resources are deployed to address the climate crisis.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might involve analyzing data on carbon emissions to inform a client’s investment strategy, drafting a report summarizing findings, and participating in a video call with a foundation to discuss program design. You’ll balance independent deep work with collaborative problem-solving, all while contributing to meaningful climate solutions.

🎯 Who CEA Consulting Is Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in climate-related analysis, strategy consulting, or program management, ideally in an environmental or mission-driven context.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Deep knowledge of climate solutions—such as renewable energy, decarbonization, climate policy, or climate finance—and a passion for environmental issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively in a remote, team-oriented environment.

📝 Tips for Applying to CEA Consulting

1

Tailor your resume to highlight climate-specific projects and quantifiable outcomes—CEA values rigorous analysis and measurable impact.

2

In your cover letter, explicitly reference CEA’s Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles and explain how your values align with their collaborative, client-oriented approach.

3

Demonstrate your ability to work remotely by showcasing past experiences where you successfully managed projects or collaborated across distributed teams.

4

Use your application to show deep sector expertise—mention specific climate sub-topics (e.g., carbon markets, clean energy policy) and why you’re passionate about them.

5

Connect with current or former CEA consultants on LinkedIn to learn about the firm’s culture and recent projects, then weave those insights into your application.
