Senior AI Engineer

• Design and develop reusable, scalable AI platform services that expose GenAI models, knowledge retrieval pipelines, and agent workflows to application teams.
• Build and maintain knowledge retrieval systems, processing heterogeneous documents and building embedding pipelines.
• Set up frameworks for monitoring and evaluating AI output quality and platform observability.
• Act as a centre of excellence for AI and LLM usage, setting best practices and accelerating adoption across the business.

This role directly accelerates the transition to a low-carbon future by building AI systems that help Octopus Energy serve millions of households more efficiently, reducing energy waste and enabling renewable energy adoption.

• 2+ years of hands-on experience building and productionizing LLM applications with deep knowledge of vector databases and orchestration layers.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with deep experience in asynchronous Python (asyncio, FastAPI).
• Proven experience solving production RAG challenges such as context window management, metadata filtering, and semantic routing.
• Mastery of Git, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms like AWS.
