How to Apply for Remote Internship, Proposal Writing OR Third-Party Monitoring & Evaluation (Unpaid), start in November 2026 or beyond

at TRUST Consultancy & Development

🏢 About TRUST Consultancy & Development

Trust Consultancy & Development is a research and third-party monitoring and evaluation firm headquartered in Gaziantep, Turkey, with sister companies in Palestine, Pakistan, and Iraq. It serves major humanitarian donors and NGOs like UNICEF, Save the Children, NRC, and USAID/BHA across the MENA region and beyond. What sets Trust apart is its deep field networks in hard-to-reach areas such as Syria, Yemen, and Afghanistan, offering interns rare exposure to real-world humanitarian data and proposals.

About This Role

This is a 6-month, full-time, unpaid remote internship as a Junior Officer in either the Proposal Writing or Third-Party Monitoring & Evaluation (TPM) department. You will support different phases of proposal development or M&E projects, gaining hands-on experience with tenders, data collection, and analysis for high-profile humanitarian clients. The role is ideal for someone seeking a career in humanitarian research, M&E, or business development, and offers the potential for travel with logistics covered by Trust.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might involve researching donor guidelines for an upcoming proposal, drafting sections of a concept note, or analyzing field data for an M&E report. You could also attend virtual team meetings with colleagues in Turkey or other countries, coordinate with field monitors, and help prepare deliverables for clients. Expect a mix of independent work and collaborative tasks, all while gaining exposure to the full project cycle.

🎯 Who TRUST Consultancy & Development Is Looking For

  • Demonstrated interest in humanitarian research, M&E, or proposal writing, ideally through coursework, volunteering, or previous internships.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize information and produce clear, concise reports or proposals.
  • Familiarity with the MENA region and contexts such as Syria, Iraq, or Yemen, either through academic study or lived experience.
  • Self-motivated and organized, able to commit 40 hours per week remotely and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

📝 Tips for Applying to TRUST Consultancy & Development

1

Clearly state in your application whether you are applying for the Proposal Writing or TPM track, as the job description explicitly requires this.

2

Highlight any experience with donor-funded projects (e.g., USAID, ECHO, UNICEF) or familiarity with their proposal formats and M&E frameworks.

3

Show your understanding of Trust's unique value proposition by referencing their field networks in conflict-affected areas and their client list in your cover letter.

4

If you have language skills relevant to the MENA region (e.g., Arabic, Turkish, Kurdish), emphasize them, as they are highly valuable for field research and proposal development.

5

Since the internship is unpaid, demonstrate your motivation and commitment to the humanitarian sector, perhaps by linking it to your long-term career goals.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

Emphasize your specific interest in either proposal writing or TPM and how this internship aligns with your career aspirations. Highlight any direct experience with humanitarian donors, M&E methodologies, or proposal development. Show that you understand Trust's work in complex environments and can contribute to their mission. Mention your ability to work remotely and full-time for six months, and express enthusiasm for learning from their field-based approach.

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Failing to specify which track (Proposal Writing or TPM) you are applying for, which is a clear requirement in the job description.
  • Submitting a generic cover letter that does not mention Trust's specific work, clients, or geographic focus.
  • Underestimating the commitment: applying without being able to dedicate 40 hours per week for six months, as the internship is full-time despite being unpaid.
