How to Apply for Project Coordinator

at Future Currents

๐Ÿข About Future Currents

Future Currents is a project of the New Venture Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity, focused on creating spaces for movement organizations to build resilient relationships, tackle pressing challenges, and map a just and joyful future. This is a unique opportunity to support social justice movements by ensuring the operational backbone of the organization runs smoothly. The remote, mission-driven environment offers flexibility and the chance to work with passionate teams dedicated to systemic change.

About This Role

As Project Coordinator, you will be the organizational linchpin for the Executive Office, coordinating projects that align with strategic priorities and growth areas. Your workโ€”from managing logistics for events to maintaining CRM systemsโ€”directly enables the organization to focus on its mission of fostering resilient movements. This role is impactful because you'll free up leadership to concentrate on high-level strategy while ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.

๐Ÿ’ก A Day in the Life

A typical day might start with checking monday.com for task updates and preparing agendas for upcoming executive meetings. You could then coordinate with vendors for a virtual event, take notes during a team call, and follow up on action items. After lunch, you might update SOPs based on process improvements and wrap up by researching venues for an in-person retreat.

๐ŸŽฏ Who Future Currents Is Looking For

  • Has 1-2+ years of project coordination or executive support experience, ideally in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment, demonstrating an understanding of the unique challenges and pace of such organizations.
  • Is highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail, able to juggle multiple deadlines and tasks (e.g., event logistics, CRM updates, meeting follow-ups) without dropping the ball.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise notes and agendas for diverse stakeholders.
  • Can work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment, and is comfortable with occasional travel for in-person events.

๐Ÿ“ Tips for Applying to Future Currents

1

Tailor your resume to highlight specific examples of project coordination in a nonprofit or remote settingโ€”use metrics like number of events coordinated or CRM systems managed.

2

In your cover letter, explicitly connect your experience with monday.com or similar CRM tools, and mention any SOP documentation you've created.

3

Research Future Currents' current projects (e.g., their work on movement resilience) and mention how your organizational skills can support those initiatives.

4

Since the role is remote, emphasize your self-motivation and time management skills, and provide examples of how you've stayed productive without direct supervision.

5

Proofread your application for typos and clarityโ€”this role requires strong written communication, so a polished application is a must.

โœ‰๏ธ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

['Your experience coordinating projects and supporting executives in a mission-driven environment.', "Your proficiency with monday.com or similar CRM systems, and how you've used them to improve processes.", 'Your ability to manage event logistics (virtual and in-person) and synthesize meeting notes into actionable follow-ups.', "Your alignment with Future Currents' mission of building resilient relationships and your interest in supporting movement organizations."]

โš ๏ธ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Submitting a generic cover letter that doesn't mention the company's mission or specific tools like monday.com.
  • Failing to provide concrete examples of project coordination or event managementโ€”vague statements won't stand out.
