How to Apply for People & Culture Manager

at VEIR

๐Ÿข About VEIR

VEIR is pioneering superconducting power lines that carry 5-10x more electricity than conventional cables, drastically reducing land use and new corridor needs. This mission-driven startup offers a unique opportunity to shape the people operations of a company tackling one of the biggest challenges in energy transmission.

About This Role

As the first dedicated People & Culture hire, you'll own and build core programs from onboarding to performance management, partnering directly with leadership to scale culture and engagement. Your work will directly impact how the company attracts, develops, and retains top talent during a critical growth phase.

๐Ÿ’ก A Day in the Life

You might start the day reviewing engagement survey data, then partner with a manager on a team development plan. Afternoon could involve designing a new learning module or leading a cross-functional meeting to refine onboarding for new engineers. You'll also spend time iterating on culture initiatives based on recent feedback.

๐ŸŽฏ Who VEIR Is Looking For

  • Has 5โ€“8+ years in HR/People roles, with hands-on experience designing programs like onboarding, performance management, or learning & development from scratch.
  • Thrives in early-stage, high-growth environments, comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrates strong partnership with managers and senior leaders, using data and feedback to solve complex organizational challenges.
  • Passionate about building inclusive, engaging cultures and has a track record of improving employee experience through measurable initiatives.

๐Ÿ“ Tips for Applying to VEIR

1

Highlight specific programs you've built or improved (e.g., 'revamped onboarding reducing time-to-productivity by 20%').

2

Mention any experience in clean tech, energy, or hardware startups to show industry alignment.

3

Show how you've used employee feedback and data to drive decisionsโ€”include metrics or survey results.

4

Tailor your resume to emphasize scalability: how did you design programs for a growing team?

5

In your cover letter, connect your personal mission to VEIR's goal of sustainable energy.

โœ‰๏ธ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

['Your passion for building people programs in a mission-driven, early-stage company.', 'Concrete examples of designing and scaling initiatives that improved engagement, performance, or culture.', 'Your ability to partner with leadership and managers on complex people challenges.', "Why VEIR's technology and vision resonate with you personally."]
