People & Culture Manager

• Champion culture and values by embodying core values, leading engagement initiatives, and drafting employee communications.
• Own the full recruitment cycle including sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers, and onboarding in partnership with the Director of People & Culture.
• Support the full employee lifecycle by serving as a trusted resource, facilitating onboarding, conducting checkpoints, and managing compliance.
• Maintain HRIS and operational excellence by managing employee data, internal calendars, and driving data-informed decisions.

This role strengthens democracy by building a supportive, inclusive culture at Courier Newsroom, enabling the organization to produce impactful local journalism that informs and empowers communities.

• Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or equivalent experience.
• Proven HR or recruiting experience with strong knowledge of employment law and HR practices.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with a demonstrated commitment to DEI.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and experience in a startup environment.
