Paralegal - Estate Recovery Program (Primarily Remote)

• Refine and enhance estate recovery operations to identify new cases, verify claims, and recover payments originally paid by Medicaid or other state-funded programs.
• Maintain a caseload, calculate total value to be recovered, and investigate case-related matters to support claims against probate estates or third-party settlements.
• Communicate with probate courts, attorneys, hospitals, and insurance companies to ensure all Medicaid-related estate recovery cases are processed.
• Conduct legal research, prepare legal memoranda, and maintain case records.

This role helps recover funds from estates of MassHealth members, which are deposited into the state's general fund to pay for programs and services benefitting everyone in Massachusetts, ensuring Medicaid remains the payer of last resort.

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
• 3 years related experience.
• Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience working under a licensed attorney or in an equivalent legal setting.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and effective negotiation skills.
