How to Apply for One-Year Prospect Development Analyst

at Earthjustice

🏢 About Earthjustice

Earthjustice is the nation's leading environmental law organization, using legal action to protect people's health, preserve wildlife, and combat climate change. Working here means joining a passionate, mission-driven team that values justice, inclusion, partnership, and excellence—where your work directly contributes to safeguarding the planet.

About This Role

As a One-Year Prospect Development Analyst, you'll be the embedded data and strategy partner for the Planned Giving team, ensuring their donor portfolios are accurately tracked and strategically managed. You'll split your time between administrative data entry and high-level analysis, helping gift officers optimize their moves management and achieve fundraising goals for legacy giving.

💡 A Day in the Life

You might start your day updating donor records in the CRM, then join a planned giving team meeting to discuss portfolio strategies. Later, you'll analyze data to prepare reports for gift officers, helping them prioritize outreach to legacy prospects.

🎯 Who Earthjustice Is Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience in fundraising, prospect development, or data analysis, preferably in a nonprofit or legal setting.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge) and strong Excel skills for reporting and data hygiene.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting a remote team.
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in environmental justice and planned giving.

📝 Tips for Applying to Earthjustice

1

Highlight any experience with moves management or donor portfolios—Earthjustice specifically needs someone who can facilitate bi-annual portfolio meetings and top prospect reviews.

2

Demonstrate familiarity with planned giving terminology (e.g., bequests, legacy societies) in your resume or cover letter to show you understand the team's focus.

3

Emphasize your ability to work remotely and independently, as this role is fully remote and requires self-direction.

4

Use Earthjustice's core values (justice, inclusion, partnership, excellence) in your application materials to show cultural alignment.

5

Provide concrete examples of how you've used data to inform fundraising strategy—this role is both administrative and strategic.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

Your cover letter should emphasize: (1) your experience supporting fundraising teams with data management and reporting; (2) your understanding of planned giving and legacy donor cultivation; (3) your ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment; and (4) your passion for environmental justice and how you align with Earthjustice's mission.
