Kelley NPC’s work primarily services two distinct but related entity types, providing: Support for Grantmakers & Philanthropy Kelley NPC assists public sector, corporate and philanthropic grantmakers in developing, deploying and managing new funding initiatives to meet emerging community needs. Kelley NPC also revives existing programs to maximize impact while building enduring relationships with grantees. In addition, Kelley NPC helps grantmakers develop new application materials and guidelines, provide backbone support (e.g. data management, creating custom metrics and trackers for “head + heart” outcome and output collection, identifying and defining metrics, reviewing applications and vetting applicants - including site visits, curated communication and graphic design needs, produce custom reports and more), expand community outreach, and incorporate elements of community-led grantmaking, if and as desired. Kelley NPC also supports grantmakers with a variety of multi-sector partnerships and collaboratives, the implementation and management of technical assistance programs to support applicants, and ensuring collateral, communications and storytelling align with vision and values while reflecting impact. Support for Direct Service Nonprofits In addition to the above tailored support for grantmakers, Kelley NPC provides high quality technical assistance for nonprofits. To grow nonprofits’ capacity, ensure sustainability and support growth, Kelley NPC provides curated services for diverse nonprofits of all sizes, focus areas, and stages of development - from new all-volunteer grassroots nonprofits, to alternative schools and mainstay community institutions employing hundreds. Services include: fund development such as federal, state and foundation grant writing and award management; financial support including bookkeeping and fractional CFO services; grant and contract compliance; capital campaigns and capital project management; evaluation and impact measurement; donor support and moves management; marketing, design and communications including website building and maintenance, and social media management; strategic planning and landscape assessments; nonprofit operations, policy and procedure development, and board training and development. Additional Initiatives & Fund Management Kelley NPC also manages a variety of initiatives where the above two sectors regularly intersect, with a multiplier effect on the overall landscape. This includes: Oregon Disaster Funders Network Federal Readiness & Leverage Fund Community Rebuilding Fund Maui Recovery Funders Collaborative Oregon Resilience Stewards and more! The clients Kelley NPC supports work with a vast range of people across an array of communities. This is in addition to our regular, ongoing coordination and collaboration for client work and a once annual “All Team” in person strategic planning and socializing multi-day gathering. Position Summary Kelley NPC seeks a part-time or full-time Nonprofit Financial Manager to join its growing company. We are a hard-working team with a fun but fast-paced and often heavy - but extremely rewarding - workload. The successful candidate will bring excellent bookkeeping and financial management skills, paired with nonprofit experience and an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently. As this position will be working most often with nonprofits (along with some smaller jurisdictions), the ideal candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge of financial grants management and bookkeeping/accounting specific to the nonprofit sector . This is a non-negotiable. Essential Duties Please note that, on average, this position’s duties will be approximately 90% external (i.e. providing services as needed to Kelley NPC’s clients) and 10% internal. At Kelley NPC, a Nonprofit Financial Manager is responsible for: managing a rotating portfolio of 3-6 clients. These clients vary in size and with bookkeeping and accounting systems in various stages of growth. For these clients, the Nonprofit Financial Manager will develop financial policies and procedures to improve systems of internal control, manage and track all financial transactions, maintain and monitor a variety of accounts, complete bank reconciliations and other end-of-month or recurring accounting, and prepare appropriate financial reports for necessary parties to review, including preparation for audits and tax submissions. providing assistance and occasional oversight to Kelley NPC’s Finance Team, while maintaining a high standard of quality control across all financial services the firm provides. This also includes helping the CEO assess team development needs and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement across the department. overseeing, with team support as needed, the development of various curated training programs and associated supplementary materials for an array of client audiences - these are generally convened around a particular sector, topic or issue (e.g. federal contract management; building an organizational budget; best financial practices for smaller grantmakers). In addition to providing accounting assistance, the Nonprofit Financial Manager will work in tandem with other Kelley NPC employees who are providing complementary services (such as contract management, grant writing and management, Human Resources, and more) and support to our clients. However, we will also consider candidates with advanced nonprofit accounting experience or equivalent credentials. Being well versed in bookkeeping, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and specifically, a deep knowledge of and experience working in QuickBooks, are requirements for this position. A successful candidate will have a solid understanding of how financials work within the larger organizational health and structure (programmatic, operational and fund development or grantmaking) for both community-based nonprofits and grantmakers. While this position will report to Kelley NPC’s Founder and CEO, the Nonprofit Financial Manager will be expected to work independently and remotely a majority of the time while maintaining availability and responsiveness during regular business hours (9am to 5pm PT). Well-versed in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of foundation and government grants and contracts and reporting.
