Michigan LLI Attorney

• Represent Michigan journalists and news organizations in litigation involving access to judicial records, freedom of information, and First Amendment issues.
• Provide counsel on newsgathering, libel, and privacy matters.
• Draft amicus briefs and conduct trainings for journalists on media law.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to promote the Local Legal Initiative.

This role ensures that journalists in Michigan can access public records and judicial proceedings, protecting press freedom and enabling investigative reporting that holds power accountable.

• Admitted to practice law in Michigan or eligible for admission.
• 3+ to 10+ years of litigation and advising experience, with significant experience in media law and First Amendment issues.
• Self-directed with ability to handle all aspects of litigation independently.
• Strong leadership, research, written and oral communication skills.
