Managing Director of Jewish Language Project

• Manage projects, supervise contractors, and develop/execute communications strategy with a focus on online engagement.
• Coordinate events, curriculum development, cohort-based programs, language documentation, and technological development.
• Manage website and social media presence, ensuring messaging aligns with brand identity and strategic goals.
• Support fundraising efforts including grant writing and donor outreach.

This role strengthens intergenerational and intercommunal Jewish connections by promoting research and education on Jewish ancestral diversity through language, documenting endangered Jewish languages, and creating educational resources.

• Experience in project management and supervision of staff.
• Demonstrated success in social media engagement and online community building (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, etc.).
• Deep knowledge of the diverse American Jewish community and its institutions.
• Exceptional written communication, detail-oriented editing, and basic Hebrew knowledge.

Part-time position at 60-80 hours/month. Compensation: $35/hour, with opportunity for increased salary and hours based on fundraising. Remote work from anywhere in the world. Travel up to three times a year for retreats and conferences.

The Jewish Language Project, an initiative of Hebrew Union College, promotes research and education on Jewish ancestral diversity through the lens of language, strengthening Jewish connections by engaging with the many languages spoken and written by Jews throughout history.
