How to apply for LATAM Distribution Partner Manager

HITACHI ENERGY

About HITACHI ENERGY

Hitachi Vantara is the data infrastructure and digital solutions arm of Hitachi, trusted by global innovators like the Las Vegas Sphere to turn data into business outcomes. As part of Hitachi Energy's broader mission toward a carbon-neutral future, the company offers a rare blend of deep enterprise technology and sustainability impact. Employees join a diverse, global team that gets to solve high-stakes data challenges while shaping the next wave of growth in energy and digital infrastructure.

About the role

As the LATAM Distribution Partner Manager, you will own the strategic channel ecosystem across Latin America—recruiting, enabling, and growing distributors, VARs, systems integrators, and service providers. You are the primary liaison between Hitachi Vantara and its regional partners, driving revenue through joint go-to-market plans, deal registration, and pipeline acceleration. This role is remote (US-based) but demands deep LATAM market fluency and the ability to travel as needed to build face-to-face partner trust.

A typical day

A typical day might start with a pipeline review call with a distributor in Brazil, followed by a strategy session with a VAR in Mexico to plan a joint marketing event. You might spend the afternoon updating deal registrations in Salesforce, preparing a quarterly business review deck for a key partner, and coordinating with Hitachi Vantara's regional sales team to align on target accounts. Expect frequent video calls and occasional travel to partner sites across LATAM.

Who HITACHI ENERGY is looking for

  • Proven track record (5+ years) in channel/distribution management across LATAM, with direct experience managing distributors and VARs in markets like Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia.
  • Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese (English required), with the cultural dexterity to navigate business practices, negotiation styles, and relationship-building norms across the region.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting new partners and enabling existing ones to drive partner-sourced pipeline and revenue, ideally in data infrastructure, storage, cloud, or IT solutions.
  • Strong operational discipline: comfortable with deal registration systems, partner portals, joint business planning, and using CRM (Salesforce) to track and forecast partner-led opportunities.

Tips for this application

  • Highlight specific LATAM distributor and VAR names you have managed (e.g., Ingram Micro, Tech Data, or regional players) and quantify the revenue growth or pipeline you generated through them.
  • Emphasize your bilingual/bicultural capability—not just language proficiency, but examples of how you adapted go-to-market strategy for different LATAM countries.
  • Reference Hitachi Vantara's data infrastructure products (e.g., storage, converged systems) and explain how you would enable partners to position them against competitors like Dell EMC or NetApp.
  • Address the remote (US) nature of the role upfront: show you have a home office setup and a proven ability to work autonomously while collaborating with global teams across time zones.
  • Use your cover letter to propose a 30-60-90 day plan for partner recruitment and enablement in one or two priority LATAM markets—this demonstrates strategic thinking and immediate value.

What to cover in your cover letter

["Your direct experience growing channel revenue in LATAM, with concrete metrics (e.g., 'grew distributor-led pipeline by 40% in Brazil within 12 months').", 'Your ability to recruit and onboard new partners while enabling existing ones—show you understand the full partner lifecycle.', 'Your cultural and linguistic fluency in Spanish and Portuguese, and how that enables you to build trust with partners across the region.', "Your alignment with Hitachi Vantara's mission to empower customers with data, and why the energy/sustainability angle of Hitachi Energy excites you."]

Research before applying

  • Study Hitachi Vantara's product portfolio, especially their data storage and infrastructure solutions, and how they differentiate in the LATAM market.
  • Research Hitachi Energy's sustainability initiatives and how the Vantara data business fits into the broader carbon-neutral mission.
  • Identify key distributors and VARs in LATAM that already partner with Hitachi Vantara or competitors, and note any recent partnership announcements.
  • Understand the competitive landscape in LATAM for data infrastructure (Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage) and how channel strategies differ by country.

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • How would you assess and prioritize which LATAM markets to focus on first for partner recruitment, given Hitachi Vantara's existing footprint?
  • Describe a time you turned around an underperforming distributor relationship—what was your approach and what was the outcome?
  • How do you design a joint business plan with a distributor that aligns their incentives with Hitachi Vantara's revenue and pipeline goals?
  • What metrics do you use to measure partner enablement success, and how do you use those to forecast partner-led revenue?
  • How would you collaborate with Hitachi Vantara's direct sales teams to avoid channel conflict while maximizing partner-sourced opportunities?

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Do not submit a generic cover letter that could apply to any channel manager role—failing to mention LATAM, Hitachi Vantara's products, or the energy/sustainability context will immediately disqualify you.
  • Avoid listing language skills without demonstrating cultural fluency—hiring managers want to see examples of how you've adapted business approaches across LATAM countries.
  • Do not ignore the remote (US) aspect: if you are not currently in the US or cannot articulate how you'll manage the time zone and travel demands, your application may be rejected.

No deadline is listed. Roles without a deadline usually close once the employer has enough candidates, so apply soon if you are interested.
