How to apply for Junior Recruiter

Supplyhouse

About Supplyhouse

SupplyHouse.com is an industry-leading e-commerce company specializing in HVAC, plumbing, heating, and electrical supplies since 2004. What sets them apart is their core values—Generosity, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork, and GRIT—which they live out daily to create a supportive, people-first culture. As a remote-friendly employer, they offer the flexibility to work from home while being part of a collaborative team that empowers employees to grow.

About the role

As a Junior Recruiter (Talent Acquisition Associate), you'll own full-cycle recruitment for entry- and mid-level roles, from intake meetings with hiring managers through sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer coordination. You'll be the first point of contact for many candidates, shaping their experience and helping SupplyHouse build a talented, diverse team. This role is impactful because you directly contribute to the company's growth by connecting the right people with opportunities that align with their values.

A typical day

A typical day might start with a sourcing sprint to find candidates for a new opening, followed by phone screens with promising applicants. You'll coordinate interview schedules with hiring managers, update the ATS with candidate notes, and participate in a team huddle to discuss priorities. You might also attend an intake meeting for a new role, where you'll partner with the hiring manager to define the ideal candidate profile.

Who Supplyhouse is looking for

  • 1-2 years of recruiting or HR experience, ideally in a high-volume or e-commerce environment, with exposure to full-cycle recruitment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly with candidates and hiring managers over video and phone.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple requisitions and candidate pipelines simultaneously while maintaining accurate records in an ATS.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely, with a proactive approach to sourcing and problem-solving.
  • Alignment with SupplyHouse's GRIT values—especially teamwork, respect, and a willingness to learn and adapt.

Tips for this application

  • Highlight any experience you have with full-cycle recruiting, even if it's from internships or contract roles—be specific about the types of roles you've filled and the volume.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with SupplyHouse's industry (HVAC, plumbing, heating, electrical) by mentioning any relevant recruiting experience or personal interest in the trades.
  • Emphasize your ability to work remotely: give examples of how you've successfully collaborated with a distributed team and managed your time effectively.
  • Show your alignment with SupplyHouse's core values by weaving in examples of how you've demonstrated generosity, respect, innovation, teamwork, or grit in your work.
  • If you live in one of the eligible states (Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, etc.), explicitly state that in your application to show you meet the location requirement.

What to cover in your cover letter

Likely interview topics

Based on the job description, expect questions about:

  • Walk us through your experience with full-cycle recruiting. What steps do you typically own?
  • How do you source candidates for hard-to-fill roles? Give an example of a creative sourcing method you've used.
  • Describe a time when you had to manage multiple hiring managers with competing priorities. How did you handle it?
  • How do you ensure a positive candidate experience, even when a candidate is not selected?
  • Why do you want to work at SupplyHouse, and how do you embody our core values (GRIT)?

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using generic language about recruiting without tailoring it to SupplyHouse's specific industry or values.
  • Failing to mention remote work experience or flexibility, as this is a remote role and requires self-discipline.
  • Not addressing the location requirement—if you don't live in an eligible state, your application may be automatically disqualified.
