How to Apply for Learning Partner - Washington State

at Playlab

๐Ÿข About Playlab

Playlab is an innovative edtech startup focused on empowering educators and students to build AI tools that enhance teaching and learning. Unlike many edtech companies, Playlab emphasizes co-creation with educators and deep partnerships with schools, making it a mission-driven organization where your work directly impacts classrooms.

About This Role

As the Learning Partner for Washington State, you will be Playlab's on-the-ground leader, building relationships with schools, districts, Gonzaga University, and ESDs to recruit and support a cohort of partners. You'll design and deliver professional learning on AI literacy and app-building, coaching educators to create AI tools aligned with their pedagogy, making this role pivotal to Playlab's expansion in the state.

๐Ÿ’ก A Day in the Life

A typical day might start with a virtual check-in with a school partner to coach them on integrating AI tools, followed by designing a professional learning session for an ESD. Afternoon could involve recruiting new partners by meeting with district leaders or attending an education conference, and ending with data analysis to track partner progress.

๐ŸŽฏ Who Playlab Is Looking For

  • A Washington-based educator with deep statewide knowledge of the K-12 landscape and existing relationships with schools, districts, higher ed, and nonprofits.
  • A former school leader or teacher with hands-on experience in adult learning facilitation and coaching.
  • Passionate about AI literacy, with the ability to help educators understand, critique, and create with AI.
  • A skilled facilitator who can design and lead engaging, inclusive, and outcomes-driven professional learning sessions.

๐Ÿ“ Tips for Applying to Playlab

1

Highlight specific Washington-based relationships and partnerships you've built (e.g., with Gonzaga, ESDs, or specific districts).

2

Showcase concrete examples of facilitating adult learning, especially around technology or AI topics.

3

Demonstrate your understanding of AI in education by mentioning tools you've used or created.

4

Tailor your resume to emphasize school leadership and teaching experience, not just general education roles.

5

Address the 'Required' qualification of statewide knowledge explicitly in your cover letter or resume summary.

โœ‰๏ธ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

["Your deep knowledge of Washington's education ecosystem and specific relationships that will help recruit partners.", 'Your experience leading professional learning and coaching educators, with examples of outcomes.', "Your passion for AI literacy and how you've helped educators or students engage with AI.", 'Why you want to join Playlab specifically, referencing their mission and approach.']

๐Ÿ’ฌ Prepare for These Interview Topics

Based on this role, you may be asked about:

1 Describe a time you built a partnership with a school or district. What was your approach and outcome?
2 How would you design a professional learning session on AI for educators with varying tech comfort levels?
3 What is your philosophy on AI in education, and how do you address concerns about equity or ethics?
4 How would you recruit a diverse cohort of school partners across Washington?
5 Share an example of coaching an educator to implement a new instructional tool or practice.

โš ๏ธ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Being too generic about AI without showing specific knowledge of Playlab's tools or approach.
  • Failing to emphasize Washington-specific experienceโ€”this is a required qualification.
