Frontend Engineer

• Implement and maintain frontend components for various projects under the Ecosystem department, including ESPHome, Voice, Music Assistant, and the Device Database.
• Conduct code reviews, collaborate with engineering/design/product teams, and continuously improve the frontend codebase.
• Engage with the community by investigating user-reported issues and preparing tasks for contributors.

This role directly contributes to the development of open-source smart home technologies that prioritize privacy, choice, and sustainability, empowering users worldwide to control their own smart homes.

• 3+ years of professional TypeScript development experience.
• Experience developing and optimizing progressive web applications (PWAs).
• Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., Lit, React, Angular, Vue).
• Extensive proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows.

Fully remote organization; full-time position (40 hours/week); five weeks paid time off; fourteen days paid sick leave; hardware budget (keep after three years); 50% internet contribution; ability to spend work time on Home Assistant side projects. Compensation targets 75th percentile for role/seniority/location: Netherlands ~62,000 EUR, UK ~55,000 GBP, Spain ~51,000 EUR, Portugal ~51,000 EUR.
