Controller

• Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of internal and external financial reports and maintain internal controls.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff, and partner with the CFOO on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Lead annual audit, 403(b) audit, and compliance reviews; assist with Form 990 preparation.

This role ensures the financial integrity and sustainability of New York Cares, enabling the organization to mobilize tens of thousands of volunteers annually to address critical community needs in education, hunger, and public spaces across New York City.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years experience as a Controller; non-profit experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience with MIP, QuickBooks, Salesforce, and other integrated financial systems.
