Head of Microgrid Controls

• Own the architecture, software design, and evolution of BoxPower's microgrid controls platform, including PLC/RTAC programming, integration with DERs, and commissioning.
• Build and lead a controls engineering team over 12-18 months, hiring, mentoring, and setting technical direction.
• Integrate AI tools into controls development workflows and develop simulation/testing environments.

This role enables the deployment of clean, resilient microgrids that reduce reliance on fossil fuels and improve energy access, directly contributing to climate change mitigation and energy equity.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; 8+ years of controls engineering experience with microgrid/DER/power generation focus.
• Proven platform architecture ownership for industrial controls; strong PLC programming skills (SEL RTAC preferred).
• Hands-on experience with communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850), generator paralleling, and field commissioning.
• Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams; willingness to travel 10-25%.
