Habeas Mentoring Attorney (Part-time, 5-10 hours per week)

• Research and gather information about habeas corpus in multiple U.S. jurisdictions.
• Create and edit manuals, practice advisories, and other materials to support pro bono attorney volunteers.
• Mentor attorney volunteers by answering questions and providing guidance on habeas cases.
• Participate in training webinars about habeas as needed.

This role helps ensure that immigrants in detention have access to legal representation and fair habeas corpus proceedings, contributing to a more just immigration system.

• J.D. and active bar membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
• Member of at least one federal district court bar; admission to and experience with at least one Texas district court strongly preferred.
• Immigration habeas experience required.
• Excellent research, writing, editing, and mentoring skills.

Part-time contract position (5-10 hours per week), remote work, flexible schedule. The Council provides a laptop and other equipment.
