Grants Officer

• Manage and grow the organization's grant portfolio by preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals and follow-up reports.
• Translate complex ideas, impact stories, data, and research into strong narratives for proposals and communications.
• Cultivate relationships with prospective and existing grant funders, and track communications in Salesforce.

This role directly supports Inside Climate News' mission to cover the climate crisis by securing funding that enables independent, nonpartisan environmental journalism and public interest reporting.

• 3-7 years of professional experience writing grant proposals, reports, donor correspondence, or marketing materials in a nonprofit environment, particularly within journalism or climate/environment funder community.
• Bachelor's degree in communications, business, nonprofit management, or relevant fields.
• Excellent writing, editing, research, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
• Ability to develop budgets, prepare financial reports, and understand financial statements.

Salary range: $70,000-$80,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance plans; 401k matching; and generous paid time off.
