How to Apply for Grants Manager - Arabic speaking
at MENTOR Initiative
๐ข About MENTOR Initiative
The MENTOR Initiative is the leading humanitarian organisation dedicated to controlling malaria and other vector-borne diseases in complex, vulnerable settings across Africa, the Middle East, and South America. What sets MENTOR apart is its specialised focus on disease control in conflict and disaster-affected communities, working directly with local partners to build long-term capacity. Working here means joining a mission-driven team that delivers large-scale health interventions where they are needed most, making a tangible difference in some of the world's toughest environments.
About This Role
As Grants Manager (Arabic speaking), you will be the financial and administrative backbone of MENTOR's disease control programmes in a country of operation, ensuring grants are managed compliantly and efficiently. You will work closely with HQ and field teams to develop country-level finance systems, manage donor reporting, and support programme implementation. This role is critical for maintaining donor trust and enabling MENTOR's life-saving work in emergency settings.
๐ก A Day in the Life
A typical day might involve reviewing donor reports, communicating with field teams in Arabic to gather financial data, and ensuring expenditures align with grant agreements. You could also be developing a new budget for a proposal, troubleshooting compliance issues with HQ, or training local partners on financial procedures. The role is dynamic, balancing detailed financial work with strategic support to programme delivery.
๐ Application Tools

- Familiarity with NGO procedures, including procurement, logistics, and financial reporting, and experience developing finance systems in challenging environments.
๐ Tips for Applying to MENTOR Initiative
Highlight your experience with donor compliance specific to humanitarian donors (e.g., ECHO, BHA, UN) and mention any Middle East context you have worked in.
Emphasise your ability to work remotely and manage grants across time zones, as this role is remote and likely involves coordination with field teams.
Demonstrate your understanding of MENTOR's disease control focus by referencing their work in malaria and vector-borne diseases in your application.
Showcase your Arabic language skills prominently, as this is a key requirement for liaising with Arabic-speaking partners and reviewing documents.
Use specific examples of how you've developed or improved financial systems in previous roles, especially in emergency or low-resource settings.
