How to Apply for Founding Customer Success Lead
at Marble
🏢 About Marble
Marble is a deeptech climate venture that directly reduces emissions by digitizing and streamlining the installation of clean energy technologies. Unlike many climate tech companies, Marble works hands-on with tradespeople on the ground, making their solutions practical and immediately impactful. Joining Marble means being at the intersection of software innovation and real-world climate action.
About This Role
As the Founding Customer Success Lead, you will be the primary link between Marble and its installer customers, owning the entire relationship from onboarding to ongoing support. Your insights from the field will directly shape product priorities, ensuring Marble’s tools solve real problems. This role is critical for building trust and driving adoption among tradespeople who are skeptical of software promises.
💡 A Day in the Life
Your day might start with a call with a new installer to walk them through onboarding, then you’ll visit a site to observe an installation and note any workflow friction. After lunch, you’ll review AI-generated scope documents for accuracy, compile feedback for the product team, and follow up with an installer who had a compliance issue. You’ll end the day updating the customer pipeline and planning next week’s site visits.

- Has direct experience working in or with the construction or trades industry, understanding the language, pain points, and workflows of installers.
- Proven ability to build trust and manage relationships under pressure, especially with customers who have been disappointed by previous software solutions.
- Strong product instinct: can identify when a workflow doesn't match reality and articulate clear, actionable feedback for product teams.

📝 Tips for Applying to Marble
Highlight any hands-on experience in construction, HVAC, solar installation, or similar trades—even if it was a summer job or family business.
Showcase specific examples where you turned a frustrated customer into a loyal advocate, especially in a high-pressure environment.
Demonstrate your product instinct by mentioning a time you identified a workflow gap and suggested a fix that improved efficiency or satisfaction.
Quantify your impact: e.g., 'Reduced onboarding time by 30% through streamlined communication' or 'Increased repeat usage by 20% via proactive check-ins.'
Tailor your resume and cover letter to emphasize 'construction-native communication'—use trade terminology correctly and show you speak their language.
✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter
['Your unique ability to earn trust with tradespeople who have been let down by software—share a specific story if possible.', 'Your lived experience in or deep understanding of the construction/trades industry, not just theoretical knowledge.', 'Your attention to detail and diligence in reviewing technical documents, with an example of catching a critical error.', 'Your passion for climate action and how this role at Marble aligns with your personal mission to reduce emissions.']

- → Look into the specific pain points of installers—check trade forums or speak to someone in the industry if possible.

💬 Prepare for These Interview Topics
Based on this role, you may be asked about:
⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't use generic customer success language—avoid buzzwords like 'synergy' or 'leverage.' Be specific to trades and construction.
- Don't claim to understand the installer's perspective without backing it up with concrete experience or research.
- Don't overlook the technical document review aspect—if you lack experience, don't bluff. Instead, show your willingness to learn and your attention to detail.
