How to Apply for Field Service Engineer - Benelux (Netherlands & Flanders)

at Tomra

🏢 About Tomra

TOMRA is a global leader in sensor-based sorting and collection solutions, enabling a circular economy by maximizing resource recovery and minimizing waste. Working here means contributing to cutting-edge technology that directly impacts sustainability, with a strong focus on innovation and customer satisfaction. The Benelux role offers the chance to be part of a dynamic, international team dedicated to making a real environmental difference.

About This Role

As a Field Service Engineer for Benelux, you'll be the technical backbone ensuring TOMRA's advanced recycling systems operate at peak performance across the Netherlands and Flanders. This home-based role involves frequent travel to customer sites, where you'll commission, troubleshoot, and optimize machinery, while also training customer teams and collaborating with sales and project management. Your work directly enhances customer satisfaction and supports TOMRA's mission of resource recovery.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might start with a morning drive to a customer site in the Netherlands, where you'll troubleshoot a sorting system issue, run diagnostics, and implement repairs. After documenting the service in a detailed report, you might conduct a training session for the customer's maintenance team, then travel to another site in Flanders for a scheduled maintenance visit. You'll end the day updating your schedule and coordinating with the sales team on potential upgrades.

🎯 Who Tomra Is Looking For

  • Technical degree (e.g., electrical, mechanical, mechatronics) with hands-on experience in field service for industrial systems, preferably in recycling or sorting technology.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently within Benelux and occasionally to Germany/Europe; comfortable with a home-based setup and flexible schedule.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently, with excellent communication in English and Dutch (Flemish/Dutch) for customer interactions.
  • Proven experience in commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex machinery, plus proficiency in writing detailed service reports and delivering training.

📝 Tips for Applying to Tomra

1

Highlight your field service experience in the recycling or waste management industry, specifically mentioning sensor-based sorting systems if possible.

2

Emphasize your ability to travel extensively and work remotely; mention any previous roles that required frequent customer site visits across multiple regions.

3

Include specific examples of how you've improved system performance or resolved technical issues under pressure, using metrics if available.

4

Show fluency in both English and Dutch (or Flemish) in your CV and cover letter, as this is crucial for customer training and support in Benelux.
