How to Apply for Distributed Organizer, Pacific

at Red Wine & Blue

🏢 About Red Wine & Blue

Red Wine & Blue is a unique national community of over 600,000 diverse suburban women fighting extremism through grassroots organizing. Working here means joining a mission-driven team that values connection, humor, and real impact—combating polarization one conversation at a time.

About This Role

As the Distributed Organizer for the Pacific region, you'll directly support and expand a network of local group leaders across five states, empowering them to build community and educate others. Your work is critical to scaling the movement and ensuring leaders feel equipped and connected.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might start with a virtual check-in with a leader in Hawaii, followed by planning a regional virtual event for Washington and Oregon groups. You'd spend afternoons in one-on-one mentoring calls with emerging leaders, then wrap up by updating project plans for the next month's cohort collaboration.

🎯 Who Red Wine & Blue Is Looking For

  • A natural connector who thrives on building relationships with diverse people, ideally with experience in relational organizing or volunteer management.
  • An excellent communicator—both in writing and public speaking—who can inspire and guide leaders through one-on-one meetings and group events.
  • A project management pro who can juggle multiple priorities, adapt to ambiguity, and consistently meet goals without direct supervision.
  • Comfortable with remote work and flexible scheduling, able to support leaders across multiple time zones (Alaska to Hawaii).

📝 Tips for Applying to Red Wine & Blue

1

Highlight any experience with suburban women voters or grassroots organizing, even if unpaid (e.g., PTA, local advocacy).

2

Showcase your ability to manage relationships at scale—mention specific numbers of volunteers or groups you've supported.

3

Use concrete examples of planning and executing events, especially virtual or hybrid ones across time zones.

4

Tailor your resume to emphasize 'relational organizing' or 'cohort-based leadership development' if you have that background.

5

In your cover letter, name-drop specific Red Wine & Blue campaigns or values (e.g., 'defeating extremism, one friend at a time') to show you've done your homework.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

['Your passion for connecting with suburban women and understanding their role in combating extremism.', 'Specific experience in mentoring or developing volunteer leaders, especially in a remote or distributed environment.', 'Your ability to plan and execute events that foster community and education—mention any relevant examples.', 'Your flexibility and comfort with ambiguity, backed by a concrete example of adapting to shifting priorities.']

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don't focus on partisan politics—emphasize defeating extremism and building community, not specific candidates or parties.
  • Avoid vague references to 'organizing' without concrete examples of managing people or events remotely.
  • Don't overlook the importance of the Pacific region's diversity—failing to mention time zones or cultural differences can signal lack of preparation.
