Mission

What you will drive

  • Lead grant seeking and proposal development for public defense expansion, identifying and securing government and philanthropic funding.
  • Build and manage relationships with chief public defenders, government program officers, and philanthropic funders to shape proposals and strengthen PFJ's pipeline.
  • Oversee contract negotiation and management with public agencies, ensuring sustainable program delivery.
  • Monitor the public funding landscape for new opportunities and policy shifts, contributing to organizational learning.

Profile

What makes you a great fit

  • 7-10 years of experience in development, business development, government affairs, or grants management, ideally spanning public and philanthropic funding.
  • Demonstrated success securing government funding (federal, state, or county grants, contracts, or appropriations) with full-cycle proposal development and contract management.
  • Exceptional written communication skills for persuasive proposals and relationship-building with senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with project management skills, comfortable with complexity and navigating bureaucratic systems.
