Director of Individual Giving (candidates can be based anywhere in the US)

• Develop and lead plans to build the individual donor program, emphasizing four and five-figure gifts.
• Manage a portfolio of 75+ current and prospective donors through in-person, phone, video, and email updates.
• Identify new donors through events, activist database, and other avenues; manage a development team member.
• Support the Executive Director with fundraising responsibilities and provide strategic input as part of the leadership team.

This role directly builds the financial capacity of Climate Defiance, enabling the organization to escalate its nonviolent direct action and strategic communications to hold decision-makers accountable and end the era of fossil fuels.

• At least five years of experience in development and individual giving programs, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
• Proven success in managing and growing a portfolio of individual donors and securing five-figure gifts.
• Experience scaling up a major donor program and identifying high-capacity prospects.
• Passion for addressing the climate crisis; comfort with frequent travel (35-50%).

Salary: $80,000 to $100,000 annually. Benefits include unlimited vacation time (20 days plus Christmas week encouraged), group health care, and a 401(k) with a 7% employer contribution.
