How to Apply for Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations

at The National Alliance for Caregiving

๐Ÿข About The National Alliance for Caregiving

The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) is a $4M+ nonprofit uniquely focused on improving the lives of family caregivers through research, advocacy, and innovation. As a small but impactful organization, you'll have the opportunity to directly shape partnerships that drive systemic change for millions of caregivers nationwide.

About This Role

As Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, you'll lead NAC's revenue strategy by managing a portfolio of national partners and funders, securing $10K+ sponsorships, and overseeing the Membership Program. Your work will directly fuel NAC's mission to support family caregivers through research and advocacy.

๐Ÿ’ก A Day in the Life

A typical day might involve a morning check-in with the CEO to discuss partnership priorities, followed by drafting a proposal for a potential foundation partner. Afternoon calls with current corporate sponsors to review impact reports and explore renewal opportunities, then time analyzing membership renewal data to identify at-risk members.

๐ŸŽฏ Who The National Alliance for Caregiving Is Looking For

  • Experienced in securing and managing $10K+ corporate sponsorships or institutional gifts, with a track record of long-term relationship cultivation.
  • Skilled in developing integrated engagement strategies that align organizational priorities with partner interests to generate mission-driven investments.
  • Proven ability to manage membership programs, including renewal, retention, and recruitment strategies.
  • Comfortable working remotely in a small nonprofit environment, with strong self-direction and cross-functional collaboration skills.

๐Ÿ“ Tips for Applying to The National Alliance for Caregiving

1

Highlight specific examples of sponsorships or grants you've secured, including dollar amounts and how you cultivated the relationship over time.

2

Tailor your resume to show experience with membership programs (renewal, retention, recruitment) and partnership stewardship.

3

Research NAC's recent reports and initiatives (e.g., Caregiving in the U.S. 2020) and reference them in your cover letter to show alignment with their mission.

4

Emphasize your ability to work independently in a remote setting, as NAC is a small team with limited on-site infrastructure.

5

Quantify your impactโ€”e.g., 'Increased partner revenue by X%' or 'Retained Y% of members'โ€”to demonstrate measurable success.

โœ‰๏ธ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

['Your personal connection to caregiving or nonprofit mission-driven work.', 'Specific examples of securing $10K+ sponsorships and managing multi-year partnerships.', 'Your experience with membership program management, including renewal and growth strategies.', "How you would leverage NAC's research and advocacy to build compelling partnership proposals."]

2 How would you approach renewing a lapsed corporate partner? Walk us through your strategy.
3 What metrics do you use to measure partnership success, and how do you report impact to stakeholders?

โš ๏ธ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Applying with a generic cover letter that doesn't reference NAC's specific mission or work in caregiving.
