Data Engineering Director

• Lead a small team of data engineers to build and manage the newsroom's data engineering function.
• Architect data solutions that drive business impact and scale Courier's data infrastructure.
• Oversee development of data pipelines and ensure output supports data analysts, reporters, editors, and leadership.

This role empowers communities by building the data infrastructure that supports impactful local journalism, fostering civic engagement and equity.

• Experience in Python development and debugging for data ingestion, transformation, and pipeline development.
• Proven experience with data pipeline management, including data modeling, orchestration, and query optimization at scale (Google BigQuery, Dagster+, dbt preferred).
• Strong communication skills to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with public cloud management (GCP preferred) and application architecture.
