Mission

What you will drive

  • Implement priorities for and guide direction of AAUP's Department of Academic Freedom, Tenure, and Governance (DAFTG) in consultation with national officers and Executive Director.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Center for the Defense of Academic Freedom (CDAF) in collaboration with its Strategic Director and Program Coordinator.
  • Develop and implement a robust member education program, including workshops and trainings on AAUP policies.
  • Supervise DAFTG and CDAF staff, fostering teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

  • Demonstrated leadership on academic freedom, job security, and shared governance issues, including part-time, adjunct, contingent, and precarious employment.
  • Familiarity with AAUP policy standards and institutional policies on academic freedom, due process, and shared governance.
  • Strong writing, communication, research, and analytical skills; experience conducting member education and developing workshop curriculum.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced post-graduate degree preferred.
