Consultant (International Database Expert)

• Lead the design, development, and operationalization of integrated fisheries databases and information systems at national and regional levels.
• Assess existing fisheries databases and Fisheries Management Information Systems (FMIS) to identify gaps and recommend upgrades.
• Develop data architecture, standards, data-sharing protocols, and ensure interoperability between national and regional systems.
• Deliver training and technical guidance to fisheries stakeholders and coordinate with project management unit and regional partners.

This role strengthens regional cooperation and management for sustainable shared fisheries in the Red Sea, improving data systems and capacity to support sustainable fisheries management and ecosystem health.

• Advanced degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Fisheries, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of proven experience in fisheries database and information system development.
• Strong expertise in database design, data integration, system architecture, and experience with cloud-based and web-based systems.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills in English; experience with GEF and/or FAO preferred.

Consultancy contract initially for 12 months with possibility of extension depending on funding and performance. Compensation details not specified.
