Role details
GeneralGiist | Remote | Worldwide About GeneralGiist GeneralGiist is a global discussion forum and community built around real conversations, shared interests, opinions, entertainment, discovery, and fun. We are building a place where people can speak freely, connect authentically, discover interesting conversations, have fun, and feel heard . Our goal is to make GeneralGiist a place people discover, join, participate in, and come back to . The Role We are looking for a Community Growth Builder to help build and scale the GeneralGiist community. This is a hands-on growth role. You will be responsible not only for helping people discover GeneralGiist, but also for helping new members become active participants and encouraging them to return. The role follows a measurable growth approach built around four stages: Acquisition → Activation → Engagement → Retention That means: Bring people in → Help them participate → Help them find conversations they enjoy → Help them come back This is not a simple referral or signup-generation position. What You Will Do Acquisition — Bring the right people Identify communities, audiences, groups, platforms, and channels where potential GeneralGiist members already spend time. Introduce GeneralGiist to relevant audiences. Develop creative organic growth campaigns. Test different outreach and acquisition approaches. Build new sources of member acquisition. Track where new members are coming from. Activation — Turn new members into participants Help new members discover GeneralGiist and find conversations relevant to their interests. Encourage first posts, replies, discussions, and other meaningful participation. Welcome new members and help them understand how to participate. Identify barriers preventing new members from becoming active. Test different ways to improve the first experience of new members. Engagement — Create reasons to participate Help start conversations around topics people care about. Promote interesting discussions. Encourage members to reply and interact with one another. Work with the Content & Conversation team to identify opportunities for new discussions. Help bring activity to quieter areas of GeneralGiist. Develop community activities, prompts, challenges, discussions, and other ways to make the platform fun and active. Retention — Give people a reason to return Encourage members to return to GeneralGiist and participate again. Identify why members become inactive. Develop ideas for re-engaging inactive members. Help build recurring discussions and community activities. Monitor which activities create repeat participation. Help turn occasional visitors into regular community participants. Growth Experiments You will not simply receive a fixed list of tasks. You will be expected to think about questions such as: Where can we find people who would genuinely enjoy GeneralGiist? What makes someone decide to join? What gets a new member to make their first post or reply? What makes someone participate again? Which communities and channels produce the most active members? Which campaigns bring people who actually stay? What can we change or test to improve growth? You will propose experiments, execute them, measure the results, and use what we learn to improve the next experiment. How Performance Is Measured Performance will be measured using the GeneralGiist growth funnel rather than registrations alone. Acquisition Genuine new members acquired Acquisition sources and campaigns Conversion from outreach/traffic to registration Activation New members who make a meaningful first contribution First posts and replies Participation shortly after joining Engagement Discussions started Meaningful replies and interactions Participation generated by growth activities Activity within targeted communities or audiences Retention New members who return Members who participate again after their initial activity Repeat participation generated through growth initiatives Growth Experiments Quality and number of growth experiments Results of experiments New acquisition channels discovered Improvements made from the data Quality matters more than raw numbers. Fake accounts, spam, duplicate accounts, manipulated activity, and registrations that provide no meaningful participation will not count as successful community growth. Performance-Based Compensation This is a paid position with performance-based compensation . Compensation will consist of: Base compensation + performance-based bonus The performance bonus will be tied to agreed growth targets and measurable results across acquisition, activation, engagement, and retention. The exact targets and bonus structure will be agreed upon before the engagement begins. Performance will not be determined by one metric alone. A large number of registrations with little participation will not be treated the same as a smaller number of members who become active and return. What We Are Looking For We are looking for people who: Understand how online communities grow. Enjoy meeting and connecting with people online. Understand social media, forums, online groups, or digital communities. Can identify audiences and acquisition opportunities. Are comfortable experimenting and learning from results. Think beyond vanity metrics. Understand that getting someone to join is only the beginning. Can encourage genuine participation and conversation. Are proactive and able to work independently. Can track activities and results. Enjoy internet culture, conversations, entertainment, current topics, and community interaction. Experience in community growth, marketing, audience development, social media, digital communities, outreach, or growth is helpful, but demonstrated ability and initiative are also valued. What Success Looks Like A successful Community Growth Builder helps move GeneralGiist through the growth funnel: More people discover GeneralGiist. ↓ More of the right people join. ↓ New members become active. ↓ Members participate in conversations. ↓ Members return. ↓ GeneralGiist becomes increasingly active, useful, social, and fun. The ultimate goal is: Make GeneralGiist a place people want to visit, stay, connect, participate, have fun, and come back to. What We Offer Remote work — worldwide Paid compensation Performance-based earning potential Direct involvement in building an early-stage global community Hands-on experience in community growth and audience development Opportunity to experiment with real growth strategies Increasing responsibility as GeneralGiist grows Opportunity to help shape the future of the community Recognition for meaningful contribution and strong performance Work Environment GeneralGiist is an early-stage platform, so this is a hands-on environment. We are looking for people who are comfortable taking initiative, testing ideas, learning quickly, and using results to decide what to do next. Growth at GeneralGiist is not simply: "How many people did you bring?" It is: "What did you do to make GeneralGiist grow?" Application Please apply with your resume and a brief explanation of your experience with community growth, audience development, social media, outreach, marketing, or related work. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. GeneralGiist Real conversations. Unfiltered vibes. A place for fun.
