Chief Development Officer

• Lead and execute the Pulitzer Center's overall fundraising and revenue strategy, including institutional philanthropy, major gifts, board engagement, and development operations.
• Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO and senior leadership, positioning the organization within the media, democracy, and philanthropic landscape.
• Build and manage relationships with major donors, foundations, and institutional partners to grow philanthropic revenue.
• Oversee and scale a development team, strengthening systems, culture, and operational infrastructure.

This role enables the Pulitzer Center to sustain and expand its support for investigative journalism that drives accountability, dialogue, and social impact on critical global issues like climate change, human rights, and democracy.

• Proven experience in senior development leadership, with a track record of growing philanthropic revenue and building strategic partnerships.
• Strategic thinking and ability to translate organizational priorities into compelling fundraising opportunities.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with executive presence to represent the organization externally.
• Experience leading teams and building operational systems for a growing development function.
