How to Apply for CALL FOR APPLICATIONS — International Fundraising & Resource Mobilization Consultant

at Amal Healing & Advocacy Center

🏢 About Amal Healing & Advocacy Center

Amal Healing & Advocacy Center (AHAC) is a Syrian women-led and refugee-led organization that has been on the frontlines of supporting Syrian women and refugees since 2014. Their integrated programming—spanning legal aid, psychosocial support, GBV prevention, and transitional justice—makes them a unique and impactful partner for donors and a meaningful place to contribute your expertise.

About This Role

As the International Fundraising & Resource Mobilization Consultant, you will be the architect of AHAC's fundraising future—mapping donor landscapes, crafting compelling proposals, and building staff capacity. Your work will directly enable the organization to scale its life-saving programs for Syrian women and refugees in Türkiye and Syria.

💡 A Day in the Life

Your day might start with a virtual check-in with the AHAC team in Türkiye to discuss priority funding needs, then shift to analyzing donor calls for proposals and drafting concept notes. After lunch, you could be refining a donor tracker and preparing materials for a capacity transfer session with staff, all while coordinating with colleagues across time zones.

🎯 Who Amal Healing & Advocacy Center Is Looking For

  • A seasoned fundraiser with 5+ years of experience in international development, gender, or refugee contexts, and a proven track record of securing grants from major donors like UN Women, UNHCR, EU/ECHO, SIDA, or FCDO.
  • Deeply knowledgeable about EVAWG, GBV prevention, women's rights, and refugee protection, with the ability to translate these issues into donor-ready language.
  • A strategic thinker who can design a resource mobilization roadmap and also produce concrete, high-quality proposals and concept notes.
  • A capacity builder who enjoys transferring skills to local staff through training and tools like donor trackers.

📝 Tips for Applying to Amal Healing & Advocacy Center

1

Explicitly list the major donors you've secured grants from, with amounts and years, in your CV or cover letter. AHAC needs to see your direct impact.

2

Tailor your proposal writing samples to show experience in GBV, women's rights, or refugee contexts—ideally in the MENA region or similar settings.

3

In your cover letter, mention your familiarity with the specific challenges of Syrian women-led and refugee-led organizations, and how your approach respects their autonomy.

4

Highlight any remote or cross-cultural collaboration experience, as this role is remote and involves working with a team in Türkiye/Syria.

5

Provide a concrete example of a donor tracker or capacity transfer session you've delivered in a previous role—show you can do more than just write proposals.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

["Your deep understanding of the intersection of GBV, refugee protection, and women's empowerment, and how AHAC's work fits into that landscape.", 'Your proven ability to secure funding from the specific donors AHAC targets (UN Women, UNHCR, EU/ECHO, SIDA, FCDO) with concrete examples.', 'Your commitment to capacity transfer and strengthening local organizations, not just delivering outputs.', "Your strategic vision for diversifying AHAC's funding base and ensuring long-term sustainability."]

  • Look up recent donor funding trends for Syrian refugee and GBV programs (e.g., UNHCR Syria Refugee Response, EU Trust Fund).
  • Read about the specific challenges of women-led and refugee-led organizations in Türkiye and Syria, including legal and operational constraints.
  • Check AHAC's social media and news mentions to see their recent advocacy and visibility efforts—this can inform your resource mobilization strategy.
