How to Apply for Associate Research Fellows (Two Positions Available)

at Ibis Reproductive Health

๐Ÿข About Ibis Reproductive Health

Ibis Reproductive Health is a global nonprofit that drives change through bold, rigorous research and principled partnerships to advance sexual and reproductive autonomy. Their remote-first, collaborative culture and focus on impactful research make them a unique place to work for those passionate about reproductive justice.

About This Role

This role involves leading research teams on telehealth in SRH or SRH needs of transgender/gender-diverse individuals and medication abortion. You'll manage research portfolios, supervise staff, and contribute to grant-writing and publications, directly shaping evidence for policy and practice.

๐Ÿ’ก A Day in the Life

A typical day might involve a morning team stand-up via Zoom to check in on project milestones, followed by data analysis in R or STATA. Afternoon could include reviewing a draft manuscript, meeting with a partner organization, and updating a grant budget. You'll also allocate time for mentoring junior staff and contributing to a new grant proposal.

๐ŸŽฏ Who Ibis Reproductive Health Is Looking For

  • Holds a PhD in public health, demography, epidemiology, or related field with 6+ years of experience, or equivalent combination.
  • Has strong quantitative skills in STATA or R, including merging and analyzing large datasets (e.g., claims data, surveys).
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing quantitative and/or qualitative studies from design to dissemination.
  • Experience in sexual and reproductive health research, particularly telehealth or transgender health, with a track record of publications and grant writing.

๐Ÿ“ Tips for Applying to Ibis Reproductive Health

1

Tailor your CV to highlight experience with large dataset analysis (e.g., claims, EHR) and specific SRH topics like telehealth or medication abortion.

2

In your cover letter, explicitly connect your research experience to Ibisโ€™s mission of advancing sexual and reproductive autonomy.

3

Include a writing sample that demonstrates your ability to communicate research findings clearly, preferably a published paper or report.

4

Highlight any experience managing budgets and supervising staff, as these are key responsibilities.

5

Mention familiarity with remote collaboration tools and experience working in distributed teams.

โœ‰๏ธ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

['Emphasize your alignment with Ibisโ€™s mission and your commitment to reproductive justice.', 'Detail your quantitative expertise (STATA/R) and experience with large datasets relevant to SRH.', 'Describe your leadership in managing research projects from conception to publication, including team supervision and budget management.', 'Show how your past work has contributed to policy or practice changes in SRH.']
