How to Apply for AI Engineer Global Broking

at ICAP Energy AS

๐Ÿข About ICAP Energy AS

TP ICAP is the world's largest interdealer broker by revenue and the number one Energy & Commodities broker, operating at the intersection of financial markets and cutting-edge technology. With a 150+ year history and a presence in 27 countries, it offers the stability of a legacy institution combined with the innovation of a fintech disruptor. Working here means shaping the future of market infrastructure and data solutions for global clients.

About This Role

As an AI Engineer in the Global Broking division, you'll design and deploy AI solutions that enhance price discovery, liquidity, and data distribution for energy and commodities markets. This newly created role is pivotal in driving TP ICAP's vision to be the most trusted, innovative liquidity and data solutions specialist. You'll collaborate with traders, data scientists, and engineers to build models that directly impact trading decisions and market efficiency.

๐Ÿ’ก A Day in the Life

You might start your day with a stand-up with global colleagues, then dive into coding or refining a machine learning model for predicting commodity price trends. Later, you could join a call with traders to understand their pain points and brainstorm AI solutions, followed by deploying a model to production and monitoring its performance. Expect a mix of hands-on technical work and strategic collaboration.

๐ŸŽฏ Who ICAP Energy AS Is Looking For

  • Strong background in machine learning and AI, with experience applying models to financial or commodities data (e.g., time series forecasting, anomaly detection, NLP for market sentiment).
  • Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn), plus experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data tools (Spark, Kafka).
  • Understanding of financial markets, especially energy and commodities brokering, including market microstructure, trading workflows, and regulatory constraints.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, working in cross-functional teams and communicating complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

๐Ÿ“ Tips for Applying to ICAP Energy AS

1

Highlight any experience with financial market data or commodities trading in your resume and cover letterโ€”TP ICAP values domain knowledge as much as technical skill.

2

Showcase projects where you deployed AI models in production, especially those involving real-time data or low-latency systems, as brokering demands high performance.

3

Research TP ICAP's recent initiatives in AI and data solutions (e.g., their OTC data offerings, all-to-all trading platform) and mention how you can contribute.

4

Emphasize your ability to work remotely and collaborate across global teams, as this role is remote (US) but part of a worldwide organization.

5

Use keywords from the job description like 'price discovery', 'liquidity', 'market infrastructure', and 'innovative solutions' to align your application with their language.

โœ‰๏ธ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

["Your passion for applying AI to financial markets, specifically energy and commodities, and how you've done this in previous roles.", "Concrete examples of AI solutions you've built that improved decision-making, efficiency, or data insights in a trading or financial context.", "Your understanding of TP ICAP's purpose and how this role contributes to their vision of being the most trusted, innovative liquidity and data solutions specialist.", 'Your ability to work independently in a remote setting while integrating with a global team and adhering to regulatory and compliance standards.']
